There is no standard document for better understanding of Web and Campaign Domains. This includes definitions and procedure of setting up of web and campaign domains in NetSuite.
Anatomy of a URL:
http – protocol
www – sub-domain (can be anything)
netsuiteqa – domain
com – type of organization or geographic location (top-level domain)
Domain Name System (DNS)
The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical system for resolving domain names into IP addresses. In other words, it serves as the “phone book” for the Internet.
Companies use a DNS Publisher (ex: DomainSite or Go Daddy) to register a domain and define the IP it will translate to.
For example: NetSuiteQA.com translates to shopping.netsuite.com or IP 188.8.131.52.
Domain Site example:
Record Type Record Host Record Answer
CNAME *.netsuiteqa.com shopping.netsuite.com
Total DNS: (Available)
ARecord @ 184.108.40.206
CNAME nsexample.com shopping.netsuite.com
CNAME www @
CNAME c @
