NetSuite for Outlook: Quick Start Guide

NetSuite for Outlook is a Netsuite Add-on, which allows synchronisation of emails, tasks and calendar entries between Microsoft Outlook and NetSuite.

Note: This article has been broken into 2 parts. Part 1 only needs to be done once per company/account by an Administrator, whereas Part 2 needs to be done for each user's computer.  

Part 1 - Administrators Only - Adding the Netsuite for Outlook add-on to your Netsuite account

1. First, uninstall all older versions of NetSuite for Outlook (if appropriate).

2. Go to Setup.

3. Navigate to Company.

4. Click Enable Features.

1. Navigate to the SuiteCloud subtab.

2. Click the Outlook Integration link to install the bundle.

Part 2 - User installation - Adding the Netsuite for Outlook add-on to your computer


Note: If you are trying to re-install this component, first ensure you've cleanly uninstalled the existing application by following the below steps: In some cases that a reinstall of the NetSuite for Outlook addin is required, clearing the local cache of the sync manager is required to resolve the errors and other problems that the user has encountered. Here are the steps on how to do a clean installation of the NetSuite for Outlook addin:

  1. Close Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Exit the NetSuite for Outlook addin from the system tray.
  3. Uninstall NetSuite for Outlook from the Control Panel.
  4. Delete the Metadata file from the NetSuite for Outlook folder.

In Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, the NetSuite for Outlook folder has this path: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Celigo\NetSuite for Outlook In Windows XP, C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Celigo\NetSuite for Outlook

  1. The application data folder can also be opened by typing %appdata% in the Run box.
  2. The Metadata file contains all the cache of the NetSuite for Outlook.
  3. Download NetSuite for Outlook in NetSuite in Home > Settings > Set Up NetSuite for Outlook. Follow the installation prompts.

New Install

1. Next, navigate to the Home Page and locate the Settings Portlet, once here click the hyperlink Setup NetSuite for Outlook

Important: you must have local administrative rights to install the application on your computer. Contact your administrator if you do not have these rights.  

1. Close Outlook, and then run the NetSuite for Outlook installation file, and follow the instructions in the installer. If prompted to do so, restart your computer, and the installation will continue. After you have installed the application, the configuration window will open.

2. Enter your login information and the account ID for the NetSuite role you are syncing with. You can find the account ID in step 2 at Home > Settings Portlet Set Up NetSuite for Outlook.


3. Select the role you are syncing with, and choose the types of records you want to sync.


4. Set preferences for each record type you are syncing, including calendar and task records. (Only add the record types you need, for better performance) Choose the Outlook folder you want to sync with here. You can also optionally set filters to limit which records are synced.


5. Choose the types of records you want to save email to. (As above, only add the record types you need, for better performance)


Once all options for synchronisation have been completed, select Close and Sync to finish your setup.
